Traditional LoRaWAN® cloud-based and server analytics require the endpoint to send all the data to the gateway. It’s then sent to the server, where the data can be analyzed, and actions are determined.  

LoRaWAN® edge analytics changes this by performing computations on-site, at the endpoint. Instead of transmitting raw data to a remote server, the endpoint processes the data locally and computes results based on algorithms defined by the user.  The processed data is sent in addition to, or in place of, the raw data.

What is VoBoAnalytics? 

VoBoAnalytics is a plugin for your VoBo that allows you to run calculations on the collected data using customer-defined algorithms. It can run algorithms to process data from a single channel, multiple channels, or even Modbus RTU data. The results can be reported alongside, or in place of, the original data based on your needs.  

VoBoAnalytics can also trigger actions within the VoBo based on the calculated results. This includes actions such as transmitting data, changing the VoBo’s configuration parameters, writing to a Modbus register, or dynamically adjusting the measurement intervals.

VoBoAnalytics Capabilities

  • Transmit data or send an alert when a measured or calculated value exceeds or falls below a certain threshold. 
  • Compute statistics such as average, mode, or standard deviation. 
  • Calculate the rate of increase or decrease of a certain input over time. 
  • Perform calculations that compare or combine multiple inputs, such as differential pressure. 
  • Collect data at a higher frequency, process the results, and then report results at a lower frequency based on a scheduled time.  
  • Automatically adjust the VoBo’s configuration settings based on calculated results. For example, if a pressure sensor detects levels above a set threshold, the measurement frequency can increase until the pressure returns to below the threshold.
